Ever wondered whether a jazz gig might attract a new audience to your museum, gallery or historic house?
What is northern line?
northern line, Jazz North’s flagship programme, is a new model for supporting touring for northern jazz musicians across the north region. The roster features 12 bands and 1 solo artist who have been selected to be ambassadors for the northern jazz scene and are available for bookings from April 2014 – December 2015 as part of northern line.
northern line artists are available to Northern promoters with an Artist fee subsidy. This enables promoters to choose from an exciting and diverse rostrum of regional artists, with low financial risk.
The goal of northern line is to encourage the programming of jazz in both new and established venues across the north region, whilst supporting regional jazz musicians and encouraging audience development.
Lucy Woolley from Jazz North says:
“Our artists vary from solo performers to 10 piece bands. All the artists on our roster have been selected by a panel for their high quality musicianship, and as strong ambassadors for the north region.
This would be a great opportunity for Museums at Night participants to programme some very high quality music, with less financial risk due to the subsidy. I’m happy to make recommendations to venues if they are unsure of what would be most suitable for them, or what they can handle!”
Is my venue eligible to take advantage of this opportunity?
The subsidy is only available for public events (not private functions or parties) and to venues within Arts Council England’s ‘North Region’. Lucy says, “We call this North West, North East and Yorkshire, but it is a pretty big area, stretching up as far as Carlisle and down as far as Cheshire, so there is lots of opportunity.”
If you’re not sure whether your venue falls within this catchment area, please email Lucy.
