Florence Nightingale’s Legacy (virtual event)

Royal College of Nursing Library and Heritage Centre

07/07/2020 17:30 - 18:30

RCN President Professor Anne Marie Rafferty co-edited Notes on Nightingale, a collection of essays about her life and legacy. Here, she talks about Nightingale as a celebrity in her own lifetime. Her image was of great appeal to the public and must have been a source of tremendous reassurance in a time of crisis. Two hundred years on from Nightingale’s birth, we're facing new challenges. What can we learn about the COVID-19 pandemic from Florence Nightingale's legacy? And how does the history of nursing continue to shape views of the profession? Please register to attend, and a link will be circulated in advance with instructions on how to join the talk. All tickets must be booked individually.
