Museums at Night

11-14 May 2016 / 27-29 Oct 2016

Alinah Azadeh - your vote counts!

From 11am on Friday 1st May to 8pm Saturday 16th May you can vote for your favourite venue to win an extraordinary contemporary artist to host a Museums at Night event in October. Choose the venue you want to vote for and fill in your contact details and you could also take part in the event if your chosen venue wins.

The five venues competing to win Alinah in the Connect! competition are:

Freud Museum, London will give visitors a chance to recline on a Freudian couch and tidy up unfinished business by recounting tales of deserved thanks not given. Closure will be achieved by leaving gifts under a tree and visitors will ponder what gift they would have given to Freud while exploring the great man’s collection of art.

Museum of Brands, Packaging and Advertising, London will work with Alinah and eight to ten other partners to create gifting experiences in the form of workshops and shorter interactions. There may be poetry, cookery or dancing, the chance to learn while you gift, inspired by the favourite piece of packaging you used on the day.

The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge will build on their Hidden Histories digital resource to invite community groups, museum staff and audiences to respond with personal recollections triggered by the museum’s collections. These Acts of Generosity will be shared at the event in an intervention devised with Alinah.

The Marks & Spencer Company Archive, Leeds will run a treasure hunt around the University of Leeds campus via clues on social media, consisting of small textile gifts made by community groups, school children and students. There will be documented intergenerational storytelling in the Archive, leading to a new exhibition.

The Watts Gallery – An Artist’s Village, Guildford will reopen after studio restoration with this event set in the Gifting House amid a lantern-lit woodland. Guests receive an invitation to an array of experiences including reminiscences, a studio tour, pottery workshops and violin recitals and get the chance to snap a Polaroid to add to an installation.

Polls close at 8pm on Saturday 16th May 2015!
